Zoo behind the scenes 2012

We got to go behind the scenes at the zoo again and this year it was the giraffes and lions. We saw the giraffes first and got to feed them lettuce then we went to the lions barn where they were in a cages right in front of us. The two females just sat there and looked at us the whole time. It was pretty cool seeing them up so close

I love this shot of Ellie's loooong tongue. We learned that their tongues are black to protect it from the sun since it is out of their mouths up to 18 hours a day while eating leaves off trees

This lion's tongue sticks out because she is old and missing teeth

Big Boy Bed

We officially don't have a baby anymore since Jorden is now in a big boy bed. He wasn't climbing out and I wanted to leave him in the crib but someone in need is having a baby unexpectedly so I decided we might as well donate the crib now when there is a need. I was really dreading the battle over keeping him in bed but he hasn't gotten up one single time. He even wakes me up to take him pee in the middle of the night. That is both good and bad though since I don't like being woken up. He loves is car bed and we are in the process now of redecorating his room in a car theme

Our Tiger Cub Scout

I have really been looking forward to Jensen starting cub scouts because of all the fun activities, skills and character building they teach. We did a few activities with the pack over the summer and Jensen officially started in Sept with a den of 12 boys who are all in 1st grade. We have been going as a family and helping him earn his badges and awards. He seems to really like it so far

Our first activity was led by me and we made scrapbooks with family pictures.....right up my alley

Baby brother Jorden loves participating in the cub scout activities. Here he is doing the cub scout sign and he even memorized the promise (a whole paragraph) faster than Jensen did

Back to school 2012

We had a fun filled summer but now its back to school time. On Aug 16 Jensen started 1st grade at Wayland Bond elementary and this is his first time going all day so I was a little sad but excited for him. So far, he likes is teacher and says the work is easy.

On Sept 5th Jorden started preschool two days a week at Antioch Christian Preschool, the same one Jensen went to when he was little. I had some drama getting him there. There is a really great preschool that has a one day a week program and I even got up at 5am back in March to get him a spot. Jamie went with me to get my niece Julia in too and it turned out they only had one spot left so Julia got it and Jorden was 1st on the waiting list. Even the director said that at least one student would surely move or drop over the summer but we weren't so lucky. So at the last minute I had to scramble to find somewhere for him to go. Luckily, Antioch had one spot left so it looks like he was meant to go there afterall. The only downside for me is it's 2 days instead of 1 so I had to suck it up and let him go earlier than I planned. Two days a week to myself may not be so bad though!

This picture absolutely cracks me up! Can you tell he's saying "really mommy, more pictures"

July 2012 Random

July was full of fun summertime activities and field trips. We are so lucky we get to do such cool stuff!

We went to paint pottery and to my surprise the boys really loved it. Jensen made an orange superhero cat and Jorden made a blue monster with white dots. They are so proud

I got to do Wine and Palette again with my friend Jessica and we made a cool wine bottle paintings

Jeff's parents set up a little pool for the kids to swim in and we go over to visit every Sunday evening

We went to Lake Arcadia with my Edmond friend Carla and her two boys. We swam and made sand castles then went for a cold drink at Pops on Route 66

With took a tour of the Oklahoma State Capitol building with MOMS Club

I had to take a pic of Jules in her cute piggytails. We go to the YMCA to work out every morning with Jamie and the girls. Jamie and I have been running and are up to 12 minute stretches whew!

Frontier City amusement park opened a new water park attached to it and we went to ride the waterslides. It's perfect for the little ones but the water was freezing.

Girls night out with my neighbor Jen and longtime friend Stephanie

We toured the Braum's factory where they make dairy products and baked goods. It was a good group of us from MOMS Club and best of all we got free ice cream

Jorden bowling for the first time

Jenna giving Jorden and Julia a ride in the wagon. They wanted to play outside even though it was over 100 degrees

Mount Scott 2012

Jeff got the road trip bug again and wanted to go check out Mt. Scott and Medicine Park about an hour and a half southwest of us. We went before when Jorden was a newborn during the winter and it was too cold to do much. This time is was too hot to do much but we had a good time anyway. We ate at a yummy restaurant then went to the wildlife refuge where they had cool nature stuff. We drove to the top of the mountain and climbed on the rocks. Then we went to have homemade ice cream at a little shoppe.

10 year anniversary

Years ago I would have said that for our 10 year wedding anniversary I would want to take an exotic vacation for 2. Well, reality and 2 kids later it was more like a 1 night stay in Dallas was the perfect way to celebrate. Especially since we just went to Vegas not too long ago and that was enough for now. On Sat July 7th, (the day after our anniversary) we dropped the kids off then drove down 2.5hers to Dallas. We first HAD to eat at our favorite In-N-Out Burger (so yummy) then we went to get pedicure together at a nearby salon. Yep, I talked Jeff into getting one too since I knew he would love it. It was very relaxing getting pampered and not being on a time schedule. I let Jeff pick out my polish color and he picked the brightest orange in the place and I loved it. Then we went to Fry's electronics store and drove around for a while before eating dinner at a seafood place. Thanks to a friend of mine, we stayed at a really nice Hilton hotel for only $40 and it was very swanky with a great view from the 12th floor. Sun morning we slept in then went to have lunch with our friend Wes who lives down there then we went to the Container store. I have been wanting to check it out for a long time but wasn't that impressed. On the way home instead of taking the interstate we took the back highway and enjoyed seeing all the little towns along the way.
