Potty Time

WOOHOO more big boy news around here. On Saturday, Jensen was sitting on the couch and out of the clear blue he said "Mommy I want to pee on the potty" We made a big deal of it as usual and he asked to put on underwear. Since then, he has only worn a diaper at night!!! He's done really well with only a few accidents here and there mostly while outside and preocupied. I must say, he can go a lot longer than I can without having to pee (which isn't saying much since according to Jeff I'm a pee factory!)
Wearing big boy underwear YAY! Never told me not to take his picture until now. I guess he knows I'll be showing his future girlfriends he he
His Dr and the so called experts say that boys especially may take longer but they just decide on their own to go on the potty. I tried to be patient and believe but I was skeptical since a lot of people say you have to do all the potty training stuff as soon as they show any signs of readiness. So, I'm very shocked that he just decided one day to be a big boy out of nowhere but I'm sure it has a lot to do with the big boy bed. Anyway, we are on a new adventure and I've learned that neither he nor I spontaneously combust when he pees on a friends kitchen floor so maybe we'll survive.

Trying out the big potty... a different way, hey whatever works for ya!

Went to a HUGE consignment sale today at the fairgrounds called Just Between Friends. I've gone a few times before to stock up on clothes and made out pretty good this time too. I spent $94 on all the stuff you see here and didn't pay more that $5 for any one item. There was lots of cute stuff so I had to be careful and I could spend all day looking at the books even though J has a million.

Jensen's big boy bed

No more crib for Jensen!
We took the crib apart on Thurday night which was a little sad for me *sniff, sniff*. This is his new big boy bed in his room all set up. He did ok the first night. He got up a several times then when I went to check on him he was asleep on the floor next to his bed! It was sooo funny and I wanted to take a picture but I didn't want to wake him up. Jeff put him back in bed and he stayed asleep. He woke up crying for his bear at about 1am but otherwise we didn't hear from him until is normal wake up time.
I put the toddler bed together and tried to get him to nap in it on Thursday but no such luck. He was up and down for an hour before I gave up.

Random Happenings

Last Saturday I went out with friends for Steph's birthday. We ate at Zios then went to Skyy Bar. I got to meet Mike Boogie and Dr. Will from Big Brother/Dr 90210 so that was out of the ordinary!

Me and Mike Boogie
Me and Dr. Will- he was really arrogant just like on tv!

Friends eating dinner at Zios- yummo my fave!

Happy 32nd Birthday Steph!

Shower progress YAY- we got the walls and ceiling done last weekend. I was proud that I used the tile cutter by myself even though some of the pieces didn't turn out right.. oops. That's what Jeff gets for leaving me alone with it! I was covered in thin set stuff from it dropping from the ceiling! At the last minute Jeff decided to add a decorative row and turn the top tiles sideways it makes a big difference. Only the floor is left now which is harder

Isn't he the most handsome handy man ever! He asked me to turn on the light so he could work on the bathroom with his new Craftsman drill Daddy bought that matches his new one

This is my weird child! I spilled a few drops of icy at Target and went to get someone to clean it up (for a split second I thought about just pretending I didn't see it but I realized I have to set a good example ha!) A lady came to clean it up and Jensen was mesmerized by the white powder stuff they put down to absorb it. He would not get up until she had it all swept up!

So that was our week. Stay tuned because a big change is happening in the Jones house- Jensen has figured out how to get out of the crib so he will be moving to a toddler bed tonight......wish us luck YIKES!

Tortoise Farm

Jeff's uncle's best friend Brad (did you get that!) has a tortoise farm where he raises about 75 rare, exotic tortoises here in Edmond. I arranged for our MOMS Club to go see them and we had a great turnout despite it being rainy and muddy. The kids and moms were really amazed by the amount of tortoises and the size of "San Diego" their huge Galapogos tortoise from the San Diego Zoo. We own a Redfoot tortoise and even though we have one as a pet Jensen was not interested in them at all and wouldn't touch them. You'd think of all the kids he would be the most comfortable around them. Here are some pics

This was as close as Jensen got to pettying one

San Diego is 41 yrs old and has just now reached breeding age! They are hoping he and XXL will have baby Galapos soon

Newest Computer Geek

I knew it would happen eventually but I had no idea so early. Jensen is a computer geek. It's in his genes since Jeff is a geek, I mean guru too. A few weeks ago, after very little instruction my 2.8yr old learned how to use a mouse to click on objects on a Bert and Ernie computer game. I can only imagine what will be next! On another note, we are making progress on the home front. We tore out the old tile in the front hallway and WILL tile the master shower for sure this weekend. I think 3yrs without a shower is long enough don't ya think? I keep telling Jensen there will be a shower in there soon and he just looks at me funny because he's never seen it HA!

"I'll be shopping for Hot Wheels on ebay before you know it Mommy!"

Our idea of multitasking is giving Jensen and the car a bath at the same time!

PA visit

I flew out to PA last Sat for my Papaw's funeral. I left Jensen and Jeff here and went with my sister Carrie since it was expensive and Jensen probably wouldn't do well at a funeral. Jeff took off work Mon and Tues to stay with him so they had some good bonding time. I bawled like a baby at the airport leaving my little monster! Despite the sad occasion, it was relaxing to have my dad and his wife Sharon take care of me (and sister Carrie) for 4 whole days . The weather was beautiful, in the low 80's (instead of 105 here) and I really got a chance to catch up with my extended family that I only get to see every 2yrs. It was great speding so much time with my dad and Sharon too. The funeral was sad of course but a lot of the time we were lauging and remembering good times with Papaw.
Here are some pictures from my trip Me with my Grandma

My dad and Sharon are going to medical assisting school so they practiced taking our blood pressure

Every year in Waynesburg PA on July 29th, they celebrate "Rain Day" because 109 out of 132 years since 1874 it has rained on that day. They have a festival type thing downtown and since our flight wasn't until later, we got to check it out. They had craft and food booths along the main street and entertainment. It was sunny and hot though and not a bit of rain that day!

Here's a link if you are interested in reading about it

Uncle Don, Me, Sharon, Carrie, Daddy, Aunt Ruth and Uncle Richard

Daddy and Sharon

Carrie and I flew back late Tues.night and as usual I was very airsick and I guess my prescription patch didn't really work yuck, I hate throwing up! When I got home though Jeff had the house spotless and he had done all the laundry AND put it away. That was really amazing and I really appreciated it. He and Jensen did all kinds of fun stuff while I gone too.
