Jensen the basketball player

Jensen didn't enjoy soccer at all last year but this summer we decided to try basketball at the Y. I think he might enjoy t-ball too but that is a lot of standing around plus I didn't want to sit outside in the heat of the summer. His basketball team is all 4yr olds and they play games on Monday evenings. From the start, Jensen went right out and played and wasn't shy at all. That is a huge change from last year! He has a lot of fun even though he has no idea what to do. Something unusual is that each kid wears a colored arm band and they can only guard the player on the other team with the same color. This gives the kids a chance to play without a big pile up on the kid with the ball. It confuses a lot of the kids though because they think that person is on their team. Jensen is very preoccupied by the arm band and is constantly messing with his while they play. His very first game was so cute because when the player he was guarding got the ball, he tapped the kid on the shoulder and asked for it. We laughed so hard about that one!! They don't even keep score though and everyone gets to play so it's all for learning. He has quite a cheering section with Mommy, Daddy, Jorden, Grandma and Grandpa, Mimi and Carrie and last week Jerry, Jamie, Jenna, Jillian and Julia whew!
He thinks you have to show the other person you have the matching arm band and he does it every game!

Baby brother Jorden is a great supporter and likes to watch Jensen play

First team huddle up
He's taller than all the other kids but the two girls on his team play a lot better than all the boys!

Daddy giving Jensen a little coaching
(I don't think his coach is very good but it's just for fun I guess)

Summer Fun 2010

We are having a fun summer so far but it seems like it's so much hotter and much more humid this year. We've been doing a lot with our new MOMS Club we joined since we moved and I was elected president of our chapter. It will be a lot of work but I want to help make this group as good as the one I came from. They didn't have organized playgroups so I volunteered to help get them started. Our new playgroup has 4 moms and all of us have a 4-5yr old and a new baby so it works out nicely. We meet every week on Friday's at 1pm and we've enjoyed getting to know each other. Here is super cute picture of our babies. This will probably be the last time we will get a good picture since they will all be mobile shortly and going in all different directions!

Clockwise from the top- Jorden 7 months, Stone 6 months, Julia 4 months, Georgia 3 months

Jensen has grown at least 3 inches since he turned 4 and he really needed a new bike so we got him one that has training wheels but will be big enough for him to ride for the next few years even after they come off. He loves it and when I go walking with him I have to try really hard to keep up which is a good workout for me
Hi Mommy, I see you!

We took Jorden swimming for the first time at Jamie's mom's pool. Unlike Jensen as a baby, Jorden absolutely loves the water. He splashes and plays and doesn't mind water in his face.

Do I look buff in my swim trunks?

May 2010 Random

I get a kick out of looking back at pictures of Jensen as a baby and doing the same type of picture of Jorden just to compare. Here's one of Jensen in his OU outfit in our office chair and below the one of Jorden. To me they are shaped the same but look totally different.

Our youngest niece Julia Kate- 4 months old

Mimi had knee surgery and we went to see her and make sure she was staying off of it. It was a good opportunity for reading a book with Jensen and cuddling with Jorden

Jorden's first time on the swing at the park

Jensen is starting to get some cute freckles on his nose. Poor kid, between Jeff and I our kids are gonna be freckled

Me, my Momma, and my boys on Mother's Day

Jenna and Jillian played soccer this year and their team was called the Unicorns. They were so cute and both of them scored goals. Jenna really got into it and is definitely the more sporty type. Their male coach looked funny in those bright pink shirts ha!

Visit from my Daddy and Honey Sharon

My dad and his wife Sharon live in Pennsylvania (Jensen started calling her Honey Sharon when he was a baby) and they came down for a weeks visit. Jensen really loves Grandpa Mayhle because they wrestle and play rough. As soon as they got to OK they went to Sharon's daughter Elizabeth's work then brought her with them over to our house for dinner. Carrie came over too and I made a great crockpot chicken and dumpling recipe that everyone enjoyed. At least they told me they did but I'm a terrible cook so they may have been just polite!

Grandpa hadn't seen Jorden since he was 2 weeks old so he has changed a lot

My dad always wanted a son but ended up with two girls so he really enjoys his grandsons

Sharon fed Jorden his baby food. The light from the window really made this photo look weird

Astronauts Jensen and Grandpa Mayhle

Sharon spent a lot of time with her friends and family while Daddy came to see us a lot so we took him to one of our favorite places the Omniplex

My dad got to ride on the segway for the first time

helping Jensen rock climb

Grandpa and Jensen built a wooden motorcycle together and since my dad likes to work with his hands a lot it was precious seeing them share that

The last day they were here we had crazy Oklahoma weather with several tornados and lots of hail. We had to take shelter in the closet but luckily it missed us by about 7 miles. Lots of people had serious damage from the softball sized hail. My dad was on his way to my house when it came in and unfortunately his rental car took a beating with a cracked windshield and lots of dents. Once he got here and things had calmed down, we went out to a nice dinner at Saltgrass steakhouse and it was really yummy

Touch A Truck 2010

The Edmond MOMS Club held the 3rd annual Touch A Truck on May 15th. The last two years it has been my "baby" and I had a lot of responsibilities in planning it. This year though since we moved and so many other moms volunteered to plan it I only worked a 1 hour shift. It was a little weird and sad for me to not be so involved but for the first time I actually got to walk around and look at the trucks. It was a great family day and Jensen loved seeing and sitting in all the trucks. The event was a HUGE success again with about 2000 people attending which raised $6500 for the food for kids program. Everyone is already excited for next year

Jensen want to be a mailman when he grows up so this was really neat for him!

Jeff wants to be a storm chaser when he grows up so he liked seeing Jensen get in this one. I think Jeff really wanted his picture taken with chaser Val Castor but he was too shy!

He got to honk the big horn on the semi, Jorden was not thrilled about that one

The electric company gave out little plastic hats

Family shot in front of a really weird military vehicle that's like a mobile command center
Jensen and his friend Carter Hogan got to ride in one of the golf carts used by the MOMS Club

Bye Bye Duckies

Sadly, our ducks left us last Wednesday. I knew the hatching time was getting close so I was hoping we would get at least a glimps of the baby ducks. Early Wednesday morning I looked out the window at the flower bed and the mommy was sitting there like usual but just a few hours later she was gone and all that was there was part of one empty shell. There were 7 eggs so where are the other shells, do they eat them? I don't know if they all walked to a pond or if they didn't make it or what. Later that afternoon we drove over to a pond in the neighborhood to see if we could see them. We did see two ducks with 4 babies but I don't know if that was a different family or not. I saw a duck in our next door neighbors yard and got excited that maybe they were all over there but when I got closer I realized it was another mommy sitting on a nest. I guess flowerbeds make good nests. So. I feel a little used since she used our flowerbed but didn't let us see the babies! :) It was really cool while it lasted though

What was left in the nest

These were the ducks we saw later that day but we have no idea if those are "our"ducks

OH by the way, right before the ducks left. we had a HUGE swarm of bees come to live in our tree in the front yard. It was crazy seeing a big solid ball of bees, 100's of them.....creepy. Jeff looked it up and it said that sometimes they swarm in a place for a few days before finding a permanent home. We hoped our tree wasn't the permanent home and just waited. Sure enough, a few days later they all just left. It was so weird because I went out at about 2:30pm and they were there but at 3:30pm when Jeff came home they were all gone.

Solid mass of bees YIKES!

My neighbor across the street asked what the deal is with our house and all the wildlife and I said that I think Jeff is Dr. Dolittle!

Jorden in the Cart

Jorden is officially out of the infant carrier so it's a whole new world for us. He's in a real carseat now and when we go places he gets to sit up like a big boy. He sat in the shopping cart at the Walmart neighborhood market for the first time recently so that was fun. Jensen got a kick out of riding with him. I miss the infant carrier because I could just sit him down anywhere but now I have to hold him, take the stroller or use the sling or a cart. Naptime is harder now too since he can't just go to sleep in the carrier. We'll get used to it soon though I'm sure.
Jorden in the rear facing carseat that was Jensen's. Below is Jensen in it

My two monkeys!
People looked at me funny for taking pictures of my kids in Walmart but I don't care, this was a big deal HA!

Here's Jensen at 5 months in the cart at where else....Walmart, my second home!
