Oklahoma State Fair 2008

I took Jensen to the Oklahoma State Fair yesterday and we had a great time with our friends Kathie and Hannah. We visited the petting zoo first but Jensen was acting like he had to pee but refused to admit it. He finally said he had to go after a while and we went to the luxuious port-o-potties to take care of business. He took one look in the hole and said huh uh, I don't need to pee. I could not get him to go and I spilled the animal food on my head grrrr! So we go back to the stroller and he immediately pees everywhere. Luckily I had spare clothes but he had to sit on my jacket the rest of the day. It was not a good potty training day at all!

Anyway, we rode the space needle and saw the pig races twice because Jensen liked it so much. He also rode his first fair ride all by himself and played his first carnival game. I was so proud he he. Jensen also loved the baby chickens that just hatched. We just happened see my friend Raven that I have known since we were toddlers so that was neat. Of course the food was fantastic and there was no line to get a cinnamon roll so that was awesome!
Jensen said all morning that he wanted to ride a roller coaster but he decided on this jeep ride

Jensen got a little too much sun because I didn't even think to put sun block on since its so mild outside. Poor thing had pink cheeks for the first time-won't be the last though since we are a family of albinos :)

We are hoping to go to the fair again with Daddy when he gets home. It's a tradition for us since Jeff and I had our first date at the fair!

Granolas and Little Gym

The last week has been pretty normal. We went to toddler aerobics on Monday with MOMS Club. Yes, there is such a thing....the kids get to dance, sing and play. Jensen for some reason isn't really a big fan but we go anyway and I end up holding him. He's 32lbs now by the way so its aerobics for mommy too. This time though, he did a lot better and he always loves the parachute play. He went to school on Thursday and it was "Granolas with Grandparents" day and Jensen was very proud to have both his Grandma and Mimi come eat a snack with him in his classroom. He stayed dry again all day but didn't take a nap this time.

I've been sort of at a loss for activities lately but I remembered as a kid that it was fun to play with shaving cream so I bought some and got out a cookie sheet to spray it on. Jensen wasn't too sure at first but he had fun for a few minutes playing in it.

Two peas in a pod! I think the cat would be doing the same pose if he could! This is what they looked like when I came home from the gym the other night. They like to watch Pink Panther and Tom and Jerry while I'm gone. Its funny if you ask Jensen what the cat's name is on the cartoon he says "Toman"as if the AND is part of Tom's name...cracks me up!

We had fun at a birthday party at The Little Gym on Sat for our friend Kyan who turned 4. Jamie (my SIL) is sick with pneumonia so we picked up Jenna and Jillian and took them with us since they were planning on going too. The kids had fun on the balance beam, jumping and playing. Later that evening, Jensen got to play with some of his cousins on Jeff's mom's side since his Aunt Joyce was in town for a visit from Phoenix. It was a busy fun day!

Jeff left this afternoon for a "nerd convention" as I call it in Las Vegas. Its called VM World and its a trade show/training for network virtualization...... I think. He'll be gone til Friday so Jensen and I will have to fend for ourselves and keep busy until then.

Back to "school"

Jensen carrying his napmat in to school

Jensen started Mother's Day Out Thursday for his second year. He has a new classroom and teacher but some of the same friends. He was really clingy when I dropped him off and said he didn't want to stay until I told him MiMi (my mom) was going to pick him up later. Then he said ok bye Mommy. We were so proud that he stayed dry all day while at school and listened well. It was so nice to have my "day off" again and got a lot of stuff done.

Jensen has decided his favorite color is yellow which is neat that he has his own favorite about something. We went to get snow cones Tues as a special treat and he ordered yellow all by himself. Sticky yummy!

Labor Day for sure

Last weekend was a 3 day weekend for Labor Day so we labored....a LOT! We got the shower floor tiled and all but the edges of the bathroom floor tiled. We would have completed it all but we had to let the tile we laid dry before standing on them to do behind the door, plus we were pooped. By the way, do you know how many different types of toilets there are? I swear we were at Lowes two years trying to find one that was not to expensive but not a cheapy, elongated bowl, regular white, blah blah. They even have some that say it repels germs (do you really think it does?) Anyway, we feel really guilty about it but sometimes when we are doing a project we have to park Jensen in front of the tv so he will leave us alone. On Monday though, my wonderful friend Kathie who lives in our neighborhood let Jensen come over to play with Hannah so we could work. Hopefully we will have all the tile in place by the weekend so we can grout....its such a joy, not! I will post pics once its all done

Here's some pics Kathie took of Jensen and Hannah playing. They were born about 2 weeks apart but she is a petite little thing and sooo sweet.

Kathie said Jensen was pretending he worked at POPS a landmark resturant near here that we like because the have over 400 different types of soda pop.
Its been a hectic with Jensen sleeping in his big boy bed and potty training at the same time. He usually goes right to sleep at night but naptime has been a nightmare. In his crib, he always slept 2-3hrs but since being in the toddler bed he has only napped 3 times in 2 weeks. You can tell too because he becomes a cranky, wild child. Plus, I'm really missing my time to get things done while he's asleep ack. I mean, when am I supposed to blog jeez! Ha I hope once the newness wears off he will go back to napping! This is him passed out sitting up on the couch before dinner.

At the end of a long day, I like to relax by getting some scrapbooking done. My friend Jonelle always posts her layouts and I enjoy seeing them so I thought you'd like to see what I've been working on. I just finished Christmas and New Years of last year so I'm not too far behind but time marches on and there is always more events to add. These pictures aren't the best but you get the ideaGirls' 3rd Bday

Potty Time

WOOHOO more big boy news around here. On Saturday, Jensen was sitting on the couch and out of the clear blue he said "Mommy I want to pee on the potty" We made a big deal of it as usual and he asked to put on underwear. Since then, he has only worn a diaper at night!!! He's done really well with only a few accidents here and there mostly while outside and preocupied. I must say, he can go a lot longer than I can without having to pee (which isn't saying much since according to Jeff I'm a pee factory!)
Wearing big boy underwear YAY! Never told me not to take his picture until now. I guess he knows I'll be showing his future girlfriends he he
His Dr and the so called experts say that boys especially may take longer but they just decide on their own to go on the potty. I tried to be patient and believe but I was skeptical since a lot of people say you have to do all the potty training stuff as soon as they show any signs of readiness. So, I'm very shocked that he just decided one day to be a big boy out of nowhere but I'm sure it has a lot to do with the big boy bed. Anyway, we are on a new adventure and I've learned that neither he nor I spontaneously combust when he pees on a friends kitchen floor so maybe we'll survive.

Trying out the big potty... a different way, hey whatever works for ya!

Went to a HUGE consignment sale today at the fairgrounds called Just Between Friends. I've gone a few times before to stock up on clothes and made out pretty good this time too. I spent $94 on all the stuff you see here and didn't pay more that $5 for any one item. There was lots of cute stuff so I had to be careful and I could spend all day looking at the books even though J has a million.

Jensen's big boy bed

No more crib for Jensen!
We took the crib apart on Thurday night which was a little sad for me *sniff, sniff*. This is his new big boy bed in his room all set up. He did ok the first night. He got up a several times then when I went to check on him he was asleep on the floor next to his bed! It was sooo funny and I wanted to take a picture but I didn't want to wake him up. Jeff put him back in bed and he stayed asleep. He woke up crying for his bear at about 1am but otherwise we didn't hear from him until is normal wake up time.
I put the toddler bed together and tried to get him to nap in it on Thursday but no such luck. He was up and down for an hour before I gave up.

Random Happenings

Last Saturday I went out with friends for Steph's birthday. We ate at Zios then went to Skyy Bar. I got to meet Mike Boogie and Dr. Will from Big Brother/Dr 90210 so that was out of the ordinary!

Me and Mike Boogie
Me and Dr. Will- he was really arrogant just like on tv!

Friends eating dinner at Zios- yummo my fave!

Happy 32nd Birthday Steph!

Shower progress YAY- we got the walls and ceiling done last weekend. I was proud that I used the tile cutter by myself even though some of the pieces didn't turn out right.. oops. That's what Jeff gets for leaving me alone with it! I was covered in thin set stuff from it dropping from the ceiling! At the last minute Jeff decided to add a decorative row and turn the top tiles sideways it makes a big difference. Only the floor is left now which is harder

Isn't he the most handsome handy man ever! He asked me to turn on the light so he could work on the bathroom with his new Craftsman drill Daddy bought that matches his new one

This is my weird child! I spilled a few drops of icy at Target and went to get someone to clean it up (for a split second I thought about just pretending I didn't see it but I realized I have to set a good example ha!) A lady came to clean it up and Jensen was mesmerized by the white powder stuff they put down to absorb it. He would not get up until she had it all swept up!

So that was our week. Stay tuned because a big change is happening in the Jones house- Jensen has figured out how to get out of the crib so he will be moving to a toddler bed tonight......wish us luck YIKES!
